Service Description

Your 3-hour flight training session includes two hours of flight instruction that will count toward your High-Performance endorsement in a Maule M5 tailwheel aircraft. Additionally, you and your instructor will cover all pertinent ground instruction regarding lesson topics, you will conduct preflight and postflight aircraft procedures, any applicable aircraft servicing, a thorough flight lesson debrief with future lesson guidance, and you'll walk away with a signed logbook entry with remarks from your Certified Flight Instructor. Though there is no hour requirement to obtain a High-Performance endorsement, a total of 2 training sessions is recommended prior to earning your endorsement at Northern Conventional Aeroworks. Since a High-Performance aircraft has more power, proper aircraft handling is essential. Many students demonstrate proficiency very quickly; therefore, you may be able to earn this endorsement in one flight training session. Keep in mind however, in addition to proper handling, a student's key task is to fully understand the operation of systems used in a high-performance aircraft. Estimated cost to earn this endorsement: $485 - $970 If you do not possess a High-Performance endorsement but are actively training toward a Tailwheel Endorsement at NCA, you will receive both at the end of your training simply due the proficiency requirements of this particular tailwheel airplane. FAA Regulations outline the minimum training required for operating High-Performance airplanes. No person may act as pilot in command of a high-performance airplane (an airplane with an engine of more than 200 horsepower), unless the person has— Received and logged ground and flight training from an authorized instructor in a high-performance airplane, or in a full flight simulator or flight training device that is representative of a high-performance airplane, and has been found proficient in the operation and systems of the airplane; and Received a one-time endorsement in the pilot's logbook from an authorized instructor who certifies the person is proficient to operate a high-performance airplane.
